We identify and fill major gaps in Cantonese learning materials currently available to the public. Cantonese as a heritage language proficiency standards and curricula: We’re developing the standards and curricula for different language skills and proficiency levels. Materials that build on what heritage language speakers have been exposed to at home, e.g., traditional and pop culture: We’ve organized the teaching materials I used at Stanford and developed new materials:Our culture cafe focuses on Cantonese food.Our pop culture courses use materials from movies and songs. Materials that promote a better understanding of the Cantonese Diaspora, e.g., the history and the present state of Chinatown. Please go to the “Collaboration” page for details.
